Otis Writes:
To Build a Home – The Cinematic Orchestra (feat. Patrick Watson)
It’s so gorgeous and lush and beautiful and sad.
It moves me to tears every time I listen to it because it feels like being hugged by someone you care about deeply.
It’s a really beautiful song.

Caledonia – Dougie Maclean
We’ve seen Dougie a couple of times now – once at Perth Concert Hall where he had a full band complete at the end with an entire pipe band – which was awesome! – and once in a much more cozy environment – at the local high school where it was just him and a guitar. Both experiences were great and it’s magical how his music works as simple songs and huge productions. And while Feel So Near or Talking With My Father are fan favorites – pretty much every Scot int he world knows Caledonia ;-p.
It’s one of those epic tracks that speaks to the Scottish diaspora – it enables our wanderlust, allows us to roam, yet also creates this fantasy place that, even if we’ve never been, we’ll always call home.

Andie Writes:
The first track that came to mind was “Our House” by Crosby, Stills & Nash. I’m going through a big shift right now since I’m moving out of my childhood home, and this song really hit me. It feels surreal to be leaving a place I thought I’d have forever, even imagined bringing my future family back to one day. But as the saying goes, life had other plans.
What I love about “Our House” is how it captures the simplicity of home, and how the presence of the person you share it with makes everything feel lighter and easier. That same feeling reminded me of “Good Feeling” by Violent Femmes, both songs focus on the lingering warmth someone leaves you with, that sense of safety. My house has always been that kind of safe place for me, filled with comfort and memories. I’ll never truly let it go. But I’ve realized my family is just as much a part of that “house.” They carry those same pieces of safety and belonging, and they’ll always be with me.
Even though I’m losing my childhood home, I’m trying to hold on to the idea that home isn’t just about four walls or a room. It’s also about the people who are walking through this change with me, the ones who are comforting me and reminding me that everything’s going to be okay.

Jenna Writes:
My version of home isn’t a place, but it’s a feeling. That radiant, comforting sense of being surrounded by the people and things I love most. Each of these songs gives me that same feeling in a different way.
Starting with “Home” by Phillip Phillips, a track that’s literally about belonging and finding comfort no matter where you are. It’s hopeful, grounding, and a reminder that home can be built wherever your people are. the first time I heard “More Than One Way Home”, I felt an instant connection. It captures the idea that home isn’t just one fixed place, but something we carry in many forms.
Then there’s Daniel Seavey’s “The Older You Get”, a nostalgic track that hits me like a wave every time I press play. It makes me think about how home shifts as we grow, and it’s really about the memories, music, and lessons that stay with us.
Together, these songs remind me of where I’ve come from and where I’m going. They bring me back to a space that feels safe, familiar, and full of love. Sometimes it’s emotional, but that’s what life is. For me, each of these tracks captures a piece of that feeling we call home.

Ariana Writes:
Home – Nick Jonas. It was actually my wedding song. It was a song featured in the animated film Ferdinand that I went to see with my now husband and his family, and it was a really good representation for the message of the movie about finding home in who you are and the people who love you, family or not. Which I think naturally fit for a wedding song about not only us coming together as a “home”, but everyone we know coming together too.
Saroz Writes:
This Is Home – Switchfoot
This song takes me back a decade. It was powerful when I thought about “home” back in Nepal and the memories attached to it. Even here in Australia, it evokes the same emotions, reminding me that we are all connected in a collective world. Sonically, it’s uplifting yet grounded, with melodic guitar and heartfelt vocals that feel like a warm embrace.
Homesick – Kane Brown
Thinking of the same hometown girl, reminiscing about old home life, dreaming of family and living simple joys—that’s what this song captures. For me, “home” is sometimes a love long lost but full of life lessons. The music feels intimate and tender, with soft acoustic layers and Kane Brown’s smooth vocals that carry nostalgia in every note.
Different – Radio Stanley, Aadi Rip
This track is a fantasy about hometown love so deep you’d leave everything behind. It’s a tragic yet beautiful story of letting go. For me, it reflects moving on from my past and building a new life here. The sound is dreamy and atmospheric, with airy synths and gentle beats that feel both wistful and liberating.
Days – Aqvol
All the memories and emotions that once felt overwhelming now feel like part of “home.” I miss the days without financial stress, yet those experiences fuel who I am today. Musically, it’s energetic yet reflective, with layered melodies and dynamic rhythms that carry a bittersweet, motivating vibe.
Home – CityCreed
After ten years, I finally let go of attachments. I no longer dwell on the past and feel fully present in where I am now. The music mirrors this sense of release—warm, melodic, and comforting, with gentle instrumentation that evokes calm and resolution.
