Songs for a Sunrise” is a collection for music that feels like warmth slowly stretching into the day. When I think of the perfect songs for a sunrise, I think of the ones that make everything pause for a second, where you’re not rushing anywhere, just taking in the light as it starts to break through. Cody Fry is one of those artists who always stops me in my tracks, with that cinematic feeling carried by sweeping orchestration and piano at the center. There’s something about his sound that feels like getting lost in thought in the best way.
One of the first songs that came to mind for this playlist was “Come With Me” by Surfaces. It feels like pure sunshine, something that could just as easily sit in a sunset moment too, soft and glowing at the edges. When putting this together, I was drawn to slower tempos, acoustic textures, and anything that feels like it belongs to stillness. I also added an acoustic version of Miles Smith covering Billie Eilish, his voice is incredibly soothing here, stripped back and dreamy, almost like it is floating. It feels like staring off into the distance while everything is quiet and new, just letting the morning unfold without needing anything else.
Duet and Blue are similar songs to me. It is hard to explain, but when you press play, it all just makes sense. The melody is really chill and calm, with beautiful lyrics that feel effortless in the way they sit in the moment. I remember the first time hearing them, just pure love songs that capture a moment in time. I can’t help but swoon. I think both of these songs will help remind me to stay present in the moment, to slow down and actually feel everything as it is happening rather than moving past it too quickly.

For a sunrise, I gotta say that my top picks are: My Love is Your Love by Whitney Houston, Passed You By by Chicano Batman, and The Sun In Her Eyes by Soft Ride. A sunrise is super calming to me and its my sign that I need to take a moment before a heavy and full day ahead. At times, I also journal and reflect and these are the songs that I often play 😌
