Fall is one of my favorite times of year. Here in the Midwest, fall is a time of beauty, where the leaves change color, the air becomes cooler, the nights feel longer, and time seems to slow down. For me, the music does as well. I turn to acoustic guitar, folk, and flannel vibes. There are a lot of different artists that remind me of fall in their own ways, and each one brings out a different feeling I associate with the season.
Hozier and Noah Kahan are always immediately the first artists I turn to when October comes around. There’s something about the folk and forest vibe I get from their music that makes me feel cozy and relaxed. Specifically, older Hozier, every song on his self-titled 2014 album reminds me of autumn. The raw passion in his vocals paired with acoustic guitar makes me want to wrap myself in a blanket and sit around a bonfire.
“October” by girl in red just feels like fall to me. There’s something about her music that always feels a little nostalgic and introspective, and this song especially makes me picture cold air, changing leaves, oversized sweaters, and those quiet fall evenings when you’re just in your own head. It has that slightly melancholic feeling that somehow feels right for the season.
Both Michael Marcagi and Ritchy Mitch & The Coal Miners remind me of fall in their own way. “Evergreen” and “Scared To Start” feel like the deep, rich color of forest green. They’re slower and calming, the kind of songs that make me feel good just listening to them. They make me feel lost in a moment in time, noticing everything around me. I picture walking through the crisp fall air, watching the leaves change, taking in the colors of nature, and slowing down enough to actually appreciate the season.
Piano ballads also stick out to me during this time of year, which is why I felt it was fitting to include a track by Chance Peña. His music has that same quiet, reflective quality that works so well with fall. I also highly recommend another track by him, “The Mountain Is You,” which is another perfect song for this time of year.

I love a good theme. I put my heart, soul, and emotions into every playlist, building stories through music. To me, a playlist isn’t just a collection of songs, it’s a feeling, a world, an experience. I want listeners to not only hear the music; but feel it, whether it’s the deepest of emotions or the story I’m trying to tell.
My taste? Eclectic as can be. No genre is off limits, and my process varies with each playlist. Some come together naturally, others are inspired by visuals, a topic I am really into, or a single moment in time. Nostalgia plays a huge role in my selections, along with deep storytelling and meaning.
If you’re looking for playlists that go beyond the algorithm, that take you somewhere, this is the place. Hit play and go on a musical adventure.

The first visual memory I have is that of the white upright piano in Singapore, Hell and the Dark Forces lived at the bottom, Heaven and the Angels at the top, they would play battles through my fingers and I was hooked.
As a psychology graduate I studied how sound affects human performance.
As a musician I compose instrumental music that stimulates your brain but doesn't mess with your language centers, leaving you free to write creatively without distraction.
As a curator I research how music can improve your life and create flow - I can tell you what music to listen to when studying for a test and why listening to sad music can make you feel better.
As a creator / contributor at musicto I believe that music can make the world better.
