Have you ever had a song that you connected with so deeply, like it just got you? This playlist is full of the kind of tracks that quietly sit with you in the background of difficult moments, or somehow put words to things you didn’t realise you were carrying.
Below are the tracks and write-ups from the community, each one adding a personal lens to why these songs matter and what they’ve meant to them.
Jenna Writes:
This playlist is built around songs that make us feel less alone. The kind of tracks that reflect back the thoughts we don’t always say out loud, but know all too well.
“To Be Seen” is a really powerful and emotional song I heard recently. It’s all about wanting to be seen, heard, and connected. It’s all too relatable. The lyrics really cut me open on this one. For this playlist, I also added a song from one of my favorite musicals, Dear Evan Hansen. All of the songs could fit here, but this one in particular dives into the stigma of taking meds and perceiving others who might have a mental illness or struggle with theirs.
So many people are going through the same thing, which is exactly what these other songs are doing. Being a people pleaser, questioning your identity, and fighting with control and letting go. It’s things I do and I know others go through and it reminds me that I’m not alone.
Andie Writes:
Honey by Drugdealer
A track that feels like you’re talking to someone who understands exactly what you’re going through. It captures this sort of ache of wanting connection. It’s a beautiful, reflective track.
Jaded by Precious Kid
This song takes me back!! It gives me this type of softness that makes me feel understood rather than alone.
Hard To Believe by Eraserheads
One of my favorite songs by Eraserheads, a heartfelt song about doubt, longing, and just plainly trying to make sense of what hurts. It feels like a reminder that even when things are hard to believe, you’re not the only one feeling it.
Time On Her Side by Future Islands
I would definitely add this song to the soundtrack of my life! This one carries the feeling of being stuck in someone else’s orbit while time keeps moving. It’s lonely, but it also makes that loneliness feel shared and human.
