Vancouver band Winona Forever is one of my favorite discoveries of this year. With two EP’s under their belt and a new EP on the way, “Heads Or Tails” is Proving to be their strongest single yet. With jazzy horns, a groovy bass line and some of the best drumming I’ve heard from an indie band in a while. Winona Forever is rising fast.
Just Like J- Gutz, I’ve followed Cway for the last years also.It hurts me to see someone with such talent go basically unheard of. Cway’s swag and flow stands in a category all it’s own and $UPERVILLAIN puts his lyrical prowess on full display. The dark themed beats allows Cway to effortlessly demolish all who stand in his path through the use of comic book bars.
Ok so every now and then I have to remind myself and others where we come from. So today I wanted to cook something up that is a handed down recipe. I know quite a few of the new comers don’t know about this stuff so lets take a trip back in time.
For years, when people asked me what my favourite song of all time was, I had no definitive answer. I used to almost dread that question, because most people who asked it were not planning for it to be such an ordeal. (Like, how much time do you have? Let me tell you about my top 10. Or, actually, let me just make you a playlist.)
Cuando escuché este tema se me vino a la mente un sonido peculiar y
muy similar al de Bandas como Guster, Band Of Horses, Sleeping At
Last, Lost Ocean, Fleet Foxes y Augustana, un sonido suave, fresco e
“Hold fast ‘cause the daylight’s coming/It’ll hit when it dawns on you”
Life is but a breath.
If I could summarize short and sweet what I get most out of this song, it’s that life is but a breath – a wisp of vapor disappearing with the wind. The brevity of life shouldn’t make us want to be caught up in the business, content with the normalcy or crippling with the fear that we’ll mess it all up.
The beginning of the song started playing and I instantly knew it was going to be great. The combination of guitars, sophisticated drums and mellow yet soft and soothing vocals was a perfect fit for the playlist…
Jerred Jones, aka Weaver Beats, recently submitted this track to the playlist. He has been producing music for over 7 years, and he is born and raised on the island of Oahu in Hawaii. His style of music ranges from hip hop to wave electronic to trap and phonk. The song “Conscience” is from his 2016 release by the same name…
Canadian singer/songwriter Gordon Lightfoot is a folk legend. He helped carve the popular folk-rock sound of the 60s and 70s, forming a poetry-based music with potent cultural and sociopolitical significance. Among his numerous hits, “Sundown” is one of his most laid-back reflections about a no-good girlfriend.
A simple Folk-Country/Americana toe tapper that’s both light and campy yet manages to be oh so heavy. Taken from the 1998 LP – Through the Trees, “Weightless Again” by The Handsome Family may just leave you feeling a bit bi-polar…
