Teadrop – Massive Attack

Doin’ That Thing – Les McCann

The life of a jellyfish is full of trials and tribulations.  Predators, food shortages, ruthless competitors, sickness just to name a few.  It can sometimes be hard just to keep your head below water — if you have a head, that is.  The successful jellyfish will take it all in stride though.  Just keep doing that thing, whatever it is, and maintain a cool, seaworthy temperature.

Clarity – Ellipsis

Aaaaah Clarity – that elusive nirvana of the mind’s eye – the state where mental blocks fall away and everything just flows.  This intentionally created Chillstep track from UK based producer Matt Jenko moves you through the jungle of information overload and delivers you to a place where execution is easy.

clarity – vivaellipsis, har:low

Writing up this week’s entry has been such a bizarre experience. Normally I’m not one to be stuck for something to say, but writing about my own track is like staring into the looking glass the wrong way.

Rise – Yarley G ft. D’Wayne Reade + Angel Demone + Skyzoo

This track discusses some of the social and economically issues many struggle with, and it may go unnoticed but encourages to not give up and that all your effort one day will “Rise” you up from the ground!!!

Get It Together – Drake, Black Coffee, Jorja Smith

In 1926 famed inventor Nikola Tesla predicted a connected world, where you could reach your friend in another country as easily as you could talk to your neighbour, through “instruments that will fit in a vest pocket.” Tesla’s vision has been realized through smartphones, personal computing and ubiquitous internet. The impact of these innovations is undoubtedly massive, and music serves as an interesting way to examine them.

From Eden – Hozier

Ahhh this track is so so beautiful. It has been on repeat for days now and I cannot get enough of it.

“Honey, you’re familiar…”

This track has everything that could possibly be expected from a perfect track…

Blurry Nights – Hayden

Hayden’s 2013 album, Us Alone, is one of my go-to rainy day albums. It’s the musical equivalent of a warm blanket and a hot drink when it’s storming outside. The tone of the album runs the gamut from gentle and quiet to poppy, and the overall result is devastatingly beautiful.

Smells Like Teen Spirit – Patti Smith

I’m throwing you a bone from the 90’s this week. Well – not exactly!  Delivered by the fore-mother of cool Patti Smith – and written by the late Kurt Cobain as you all would know.

Follow The Sun – Xavier Rudd

I feel in between.  I try to articulate my in between feeling from heart to pen to paper.  Enough words come, out and in the words I ask for inspiration, a way for me to express all the joy and love I hold in my heart.  I can feel it more and more, looking for a way out.

Eden – Turtle Skull

A lovely, floaty psych rock track. A wall of fuzzed out riffs cascading against a lysergic sky, while dreamy, psych-pop vocals float over the void.

What A Wonderful World – Louis Armstrong

You know when you’re full to the brim – when your emotions are so high you can barely hold them back and you’re struggling to keep yourself composed?  For me it’s never a sad song that breaks the dam – it’s always a happy one – and this track is the worst!
