The idea was for the three of us to do three rounds of three tracks that had some connection to the idea of Rainbows. Admittedly there was some Sativa involved in the idea’s inception. The YouTube vidoes below are mini three track playlists.
See you on the other side.
Enjoy!

Isn’t It True – Brendan Eder Ensemble
Colors of the Rainbow – Lonnie Liston Smith
you are opening and opening and opening
there is yet to be a tree that you will not confide in
unlike the rainbow you are awaiting to become
you are in a finite and fleeting form
and yet you are also eternally see through
deserving of being seen through the eyes of awe
deserving of a presence that brings love along
deserving of a painting of your life
a painting of your life lived only in the ways you can bring it completely alive

Bodysnatchers – Radiohead
Since You Been Gone – Rainbow
Maria opens the playlist and it’s so full of promise – like spring – burgeoning energy – under-formed but determined – pushing its way through to become something amazing – something with the potential to go anywhere…
I’m riffing off the Fender Rhodes in the Lonnie Liston Smith track – and while I can go back and forth on the lyrical sentiment – I can’t deny the beauty of this track – a pure unadulterated expression of love – don’t go changing beautiful rainbow –
but now I’m thinking in rainbows – In Rainbows – and while Weird Fishes is awesome – I always kinda dug Body Snatchers:
“Has the light gone out for you?”
It’s early in the list – we’ve got a lot of tracks to go – but what if it’s all shit?! What if there are no more rainbows – what if there’s no more good stuff? Will we sit and reminisce about the good times? Remembering colors and emotions and – love?
God I hope so.

Twilight World (Superb, Superb, Mix) – Swing Out Sister
Old 45’s – Chromeo
I was kind of struggling
Maria writes:
2nd Wind – Celia Hollander
Wander The Open Sky – Turn On The Sunlight
a watered miracle
as we are
to live a colorful life
celebrated by the ordinary
to forever be in awe of a rainbow forming
to forever be watered by awe
to be watered by the miracle that we are

Only Happy When It Rains – Garbage
Raintown – Deacon Blue
I had a lot of fun with this as I decided that you can’t have Rainbows without a little rain – so went down more a Rain road than a Bow road but hell – all roads eventually lead to the end of the rainbow ;-p. I just felt the whimsical nature of Wander The Open Sky needed Singing in the rain – but I wanted a different take on it – and I kinda really dig the Mint Royale treatment – and now that we’ve got the happy go lucky bow bit out of the way – time for a bit of desolation – I love the rain – so does Shirley Manson – and then I was going to slow it down with Zeppelin’s Rain song but – it was just too slow – so went back to the Scottish 80’s for a bit of Raintown.
Shank:
17 Days – Prince
Run Your Mouth – The Marías
Maria:
Sweet Rainbow – Peter One
Rainbow Song – America
i arrive in resistance
an intrusive untrustworthy resistance
i’ve been told to become the observer
i always thought i was
now i think i’ve become the one that’s being obsessively observed
and the reflection is frightening
and enlightening and
i am overwhelmed
and
i am in love
and we are everything all at once
i hope so
and
i hope not
sense what i mean
everything all at once
love and disgust on the same crystallizing rainbowed spectrum
We are everything
All at once

Gold In Them Hills – Ron Sexsmith
Treasures (Nature) – Soeren Zen
As it’s getting to the end of the list – I went for what’s at the end of the Rainbow ;-pppp.
Shank:
Gravity – Sara Bareilles
Swim Good – Frank Ocean
