Alright - we’re picking ourselves up and out from the lethargy of the dog days of summer and leaping - yes that’s right - I said LEAPING - into Autumn. While some people fall back into this particular season, I say HELL NO - it’s time to fall forward - it’s time to move on from the calming tranquil nature of soft piano tones and beautiful soundscapes and into something - how shall we say - a little more energetic!

I’m still going to be looking for solid ambient grooves and interesting melodies but I’m definitely going to be favoring beat driven tracks - you have been warned!

Of course - one can’t make such a transition too dramatically so this week I’ve opted for a mid tempo piece that is just chock full of interesting things going on and yet - sits perfectly behind my cerebrum as I sit here typing away. I mean come on - look at the flourishing of ideas - look at the words flow - I’m typing away and barely thinking about what I’m writing - and of course - the critics amongst you might sit and snigger and say “Heh! yes - we can tell!” - but that’s not the point is it - the biggest challenge to writing is to actually start writing and I’m all for anything that can facilitate the process!

I really dug what Kelly from Gadget and the Cloud had to say when she submitted the track:

Keep You (Kobina remix) combines ambient soundscapes to lose one’s inhibitions in with a shuffling beat and gently meandering synth patterns intertwined with soothing melodies. It provides room for introspection and soothes the listener with a softer world to get lost in. This wandering development creates the perfect backdrop to block out the world and focus on what’s right in front of you.

Keep You’ is about remembering to hold on to moments of hope even in the hardest of times. Every day we’re at the mercy of a constant stream of negative information about the world around us. It’s hard to exist when you’re always aware of injustice and hardship and it’s easy to feel hopeless. It is about grabbing on to moments of personal hope when life feels impossible.
— Kelly Doherty - Gadget and the Cloud

I bet she was listening to the track when she wrote that!

You should definitely take it out for a spin!

About the Curator: Andrew McCluskey

Andrew McCluskey musicto Playlist Curator

The first visual memory I have is that of the white upright piano in Singapore, Hell and the Dark Forces lived at the bottom, Heaven and the Angels at the top, they would play battles through my fingers and I was hooked.

I’ve been fascinated by music ever since.

As a psychology graduate I studied how sound affects human performance.

As a musician I compose instrumental music that stimulates your brain but doesn't mess with your language centers, leaving you free to be creative and brilliant without distraction.

As a curator I research how music can improve your life and create flow - I can tell you what music to listen to when studying for a test and why listening to sad music can make you feel better.

As the founder of musicto I’m on a mission to inspire a global audience of music lovers and artists through the development of people powered playlists.
