I absolutely looooved making this playlist with Laura!! It was awesome getting to know her through such an exchange. One of my favorite songs that she added was ‘Hanging Around the Day, Pt. 2 by The Polyphonic Spree! I just loved the good vibe it brought. Somehow it even made me feel this sense of “togetherness”? I think it was mostly because of the layered vocals – it felt like such a cool crowd came together and just wanted to sing!

Making this playlist with Andie was a very chill experience.We both added things when we had a chance, and the vibe of the playlist still makes me smile. The whole playlist came together before I listened to it from the beginning, and it’s just so upbeat. In our conversations, Andie was always upbeat too, so I think she’s responsible for the sunny vibe. I really liked when Andie added “Take the Skinheads Bowling” from Camper Van Beethoven. It sort of came out of left field, I’d never heard it before and it made me laugh.

Laura Hilliger moonlights as a writer and an artist. She went to art school, minored in English and then stumbled into a pathway of learning and leading. She earned a Masters in Media and Education and is now a conceptual architect, a multimedia designer and developer, a technical liaison, a project manager, a community builder and more – all fancy words for being a creative thinker. Andie De Guzman
Andie constantly thinks of music as an escape to a whole other place. It also brings out this different side of her that only music can. Like, you ever have a bad day, but when you listen to this particular song or shuffle this certain playlist, everything seems better? Yeah, that's pretty much how it makes her feel too. And for her, music has to be playing everywhere– as in everywhere. It's like she has a soundtrack for anything. She can't stop writing or talking about it. It's something she can talk about with you for hours and hours. Music helps her get lost but in the best way possible.
