I love showcasing artist's where the biggest challenge is choosing which of their songs to write about. Needless to say, I spent an absorbent amount of time trying to decide which of Nick Hakim's songs to pick this week. His discography is that deep, pulling influence ranging from Marvin Gaye to Madlib. Hakim has the rare gift to layer seemingly endless levels of vocal harmonies through infectious melody lines. Marrying new age experimental instrumentals with funk soul and everything else we love here. Hakim doesn't just paint the scene he surrounds you with it. Please make sure to check out his other work.
