About this Playlist
I think its fair to say that my initial inspiration to write my own songs have been the Irene Taylor Trust as I don’t think I would ever confidently attempt to write a song before.
That being said, growing up in a religious home and the home of reggae music songs that tells a story and has meaning it something that i truly embrace.
So one of the songs that i truly love and has always been an inspiration, i am not sure if it inspired my song writing but i certainly took something away from it is His Eye is on the Sparrow a song that we used to sing in church growing up and was a hit years later in the sister act that was a huge hit for Lauryn Hill
The other was One Love by Bob Marley… It reiterated the universal language which in not only music but love and the title spoke for itself. You sort of know what to expect from the title and i think my songs sort of replicated that (i hope 🙂 )
and finally Whitney Houston, a beautiful lady with a beautiful voice who will be remembered for a lot of things but I was drawn to and will always remember her official video for One Moment in Time. The song was such a powerful song Whitney did not need to be in the video. Her amazing voice along with the clips in the video showed how powerful the words of the song was not to mention her voice!! The Olympics is around hard work, achievement, competition winning and losing and that was the video they chose to represent this. That for me was quality and someone I would always strive to emulate. I am very drawn to songs that tells a story or is uplifting in some sort of way and i think all three does this.
