Have you ever wondered how our brain saves certain memories and discards certain others while STILL having particular access to some or many of the discarded ones?, I won’t get into technicalities and just say that the way we remember a lot of things is interesting; why was THAT memory of you and your cousins so deeply forgotten until recently that your cousin/uncle/aunt mentioned XYZ ultra random thing and made you remember EVERYTHING about that moment, a moment that happened more than half your lifetime ago and you haven’t thought about anything regarding it for probably as much time.
There’s clearly an explanation for how your brain managed information, yet… It’s fascinating the variety of memories you still have access to. You can’t save absolutely everything, I think we all agree on that, yet it appears as if most of your memories were archived instead of being discarded and the way you access those memories depend 100% on the approach you take.
For example going through a photo album will have a clear idea of what the memory was like in your head, right?, what about the pictures you don’t really remember until someone mentions certain keywords?. It’s just fascinating to methinking about the possibility of accessing dug down memories that have been sitting there for years and years until you think/read/hear the keyword.
Don’t underestimate the processing power of your brain with “forgotten” memories.
