Getting sent tracks from artists is what makes musicto so interesting for the curator community – we have a robust system set up and receive hundreds of tracks a week. We also have a general email that has found its way onto a myriad of labels and pr outreach lists – we get sent several pitches a day and sometimes we even listen to them.
But every now and then we get an absolute gem.
While most labels and artists are pitching songs, there are some “creative” types who are looking to pitch articles to the musicto website in hopes of getting a backlink to their project. We’ve never done one of these in over 8 years but people still try. Most writing pitches attempt to keep it somewhat music adjacent – but this – this pitch – went above and beyond.
On sharing it with the community it was suggested that maybe we could create a playlist that would enhance this kind of outreach – something that would set a pitch like this apart from its competition – make it stand out and well – yeah – that’s how we ended up with a playlist called – Knives!
