Following her 2022 single, “Dying to see you”, Juliana is making her presence known once more with a catchy new pop anthem titled, “Never be yours”. Juliana was very excited to share her latest single with her listeners. Her newest release has already been played thousands of times on Spotify since its release on February 9th.
After having a listen to “Never be yours”, what I loved about it is that you can really hear the influence of that Latin sound of Juliana. Her Latin-pop feel is beautifully emphasized. What’s more, the message of the song is powerful in itself. I’m pretty sure we can all relate to that in one way or another.
There’s so many things about this track that I enjoyed from the first time I listened. Right away, I was reminded of powerful pop artists like Camila Cabello and RAYE. Juliana’s vocals were stunning in this track and It’s been on repeat since. Her lyrics hit hard and her encouraging words stood out. “Never be yours” is based on a personal experience of the artist and helps capture the feelings of saying no to someone on your own terms. Things don’t always work out the way you expected and it’s empowering the way Juliana expresses that through her single, and with a catchy melody!
In her music video for this new single, you can find Juliana in her golden hour. You can also follow her Youtube channel below for covers of popular songs alongside her music videos.
Juliana was kind enough to answer some questions about her journey as a Latin artist, her unique pop-sound, and what we can hear from her next!
How was the transition in moving from a fully Latin artist to LA and merging into the pop scene?
Juliana: Challenging! It was very scary to leave my family and home to come and pursue this crazy dream. It’s all I’ve ever wanted to do so I didn’t even question it. I’ve always wanted to do more pop and rnb, it felt natural to let that part of me come out.
What moved you to pursue the genre of music you chose?
Juliana: I wanted to have more fun with what I was creating. Songwriting and music in general can feel really daunting at times, the stress from doing what we’re supposed to can feel stifling. I wanted to do music that I had fun singing along to.
Could you tell us about your breakout song/album/single and how that jump started your career?
Juliana: I released my first single at 18, Mapa ni Reloj, it got played in radios in Colombia and other Latin American countries. It opened up the Latin market for me and the songs that followed. A couple years later I had a song get picked up from Spotify, Hasta que te encontré, and that’s how a lot of new fans find my music.
Who are the music artists that inspire you?
Juliana: I love the 90’s, Selena, Christina Aguilera. More recent artists like Ariana Grande, Camila Cabello, and Alessia Cara have shaped my sound.
What was the inspiration behind ‘Never Be Yours’?
Juliana: I had recently gone through a funny experience and just wanted to laugh it off basically. I was getting to know someone and very soon into knowing them it was obvious I was not into it. He was older and condescending, it was very shocking and it made me realize I had so much power in saying no.
What can we expect from you next in your music journey?
Juliana: More stories, more sounds, more exploring and finding out who I am both as an artist and a person. I think we’re experiencing so many changes in this industry and in life in general so now’s the time to just go for it, no matter what the outcome ends up being.
Juliana Beltrán is a Columbian singer and songwriter. She likes to explore many different sounds of pop music in her own style as a young Latin artist. She’s known for her 2018 single, “Hasta Que Te Encontré”, which has been streamed over 2 million times on Spotify. Her latest single is following in its lead since its release date earlier this year. More of her music is being discovered on Spotify across playlists like: acústicas, Fresh Picks, and Ear Candy. Juliana made her debut with her single, “Mapa Ni Reloj” in 2016. Since then, Juliana has added 12 singles and an EP to her discography. Her newest single, “Never be yours” is her first release of 2024 and her latest in 2 years. If this single is a precursor for what’s to come next from Juliana, then we can’t wait!

About the Curators
Jenna Barton
My name is Jenna Barton. I currently live in a small town in Illinois. Although I live in small town I have always been a big city girl at heart. I live near the great city of Chicago, where I try to visit as often as I can. I enjoy seeing new places and being around people. I'm not sure what my future holds, but I do know that music will be apart of it.
Music has always been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. You can find me listening to music in between classes and during nature walks. Ive had a passion for music at a young age when I started my own musical discovery. My journey into music led me into the boyband area for a while, but now its very diverse and I am always looking for something new to listen to.
I wouldn't be able to pick a favourite artist or song right now because its constantly changing. Music has changed my life for the better and I want nothing more than to share that with you.
Andie De Guzman
Andie constantly thinks of music as an escape to a whole other place. It also brings out this different side of her that only music can. Like, you ever have a bad day, but when you listen to this particular song or shuffle this certain playlist, everything seems better? Yeah, that's pretty much how it makes her feel too. And for her, music has to be playing everywhere– as in everywhere. It's like she has a soundtrack for anything. She can't stop writing or talking about it. It's something she can talk about with you for hours and hours. Music helps her get lost but in the best way possible.
