Damn. Tom Misch is constructing some of the most sincere music around today. Any which way you slice it, or whatever you want to call it, it always sings brightly and earnestly. What Kinda Music is his latest output with the fearless Yusseff Dayes on drums. Together these two have formed a deep, dark, and gritty track that is potent with individuality.
Can we talk about the drums? They are huge and raw. And if you maintained proper patience for the vivid song intro, they are clearly tuned. Somehow they have connected the basement hip-hop emotion with the cinematic feel of the song. The entire sound slams thick with some upper echelon synth bass force. Tom's lyrics and vocals are tastefully weaved throughout. This song just possess that distinct thing that we love from an artist with taste in all of the music making categories. It will grab you, and groove you.
