I was going to introduce this track with a couple of super strong reference artists - but screw that - 'cos while - if I said those names - you'd immediately go "Oh yes" and forever on associate Heddwen with them - that's doing these artists a disservice.
This is a cool track - perfect for the Grieve to list - the combination of melancholy music with a slightly ambiguous lyric but a hook that just says it all - allows it to burrow into your subconsciousness - a few listens and you'll be hooked.
Tracks like these have to be driven by a killer vocal performance - if you're going to set up a simple song structure it's gotta be all about how you deliver the story and here it's done beautifully. Blended harmonies allow the perfectly positioned vocal to make the case - and while it takes a few listens to wrap you head round what they're saying - the whole mood of the track leaves you in doubt that there's something shady going on.
And while as Katie from Heddwen says "I'd love to let people interpret the song however they want to. What I love about music it how people experience it so differently-- what I intended may be completely different than what someone hears when they listen." - If you've ever been in a disingenuous relationship - this one's going to resonate hard with you.

About the Curator - Andrew McCluskey
The first visual memory I have is that of the white upright piano in Singapore, Hell and the dark forces lived at the bottom, Heaven and the Angels at the top. They would play battles through my fingers and I was hooked.
Although I've always played, I haven't always been a musician. Most of my twenties were spent working with people, buying and selling and learning how the world works. It was in my thirties that I came to America and focused on music and began to develop music2work2.

So it’s September – and for the Grieve To list – that means our thoughts turn to suicide.
Yep – if you didn’t know – September is Suicide Awareness Month – it’s also National Suicide Prevention Month and in fact right now – between the 8th and the 14th – it’s actually National Suicide Prevention Week. If you are in any doubt as to the impact suicide has on society – spend a minute here: Suicide Statistics – the rate inches up every year – and as a middle aged white male – well – I’m slap bang in the highest risk group…
