Welcome Again to this section where bands/artists that submitted their song, have a little interview to more about them and make their week more informative apart from the awesome videos.
I normally try to introduce the band giving some info about them, but with these questions we have plenty data of the to be introduced, know them better and love them. So, let’s start with the interview.
Hi Guys! First of all, thank you so much for giving this gap of your time and hope you will enjoy as much as I do. So first and main question to introduce the band, please tell us the reason for the name "Year of October" and also about this amazing album "Trouble Comes"?
When we first started playing music it was just Josh and I writing acoustic songs. We had been trying to come up with a name for a while and nothing would stick. I thought that the music we were playing felt like the stuff that you would play around a campfire. So, with the band I wanted to take that feeling of fall and make it go year round. October, in my opinion, is the perfect fall month. So the name Year of October began. We no longer play campfire music, but our latest record sort of has a spooky quality that I think is very fitting for October. We released "Trouble Comes" on Halloween of this year. It is our third album and I really think that it shows a lot of growth for us as a band. It is a little heavier than our earlier music but it still has a good amount of soul mixed in. From the start of the record it hits you hard with the song "Watch it Burn" and it just keeps going. We don't like to let genre define us so with this record we just wrote what we felt and let it go from there. It has a little bit for everyone. Some good rockers like "Lost" and "Stuck in Your Shadows" or if you are down for something a little softer check out "When it Rains" or "Broken". We love all kinds of music and always want that to show in our writing. I think that we did a good job of it with "Trouble Comes".
You guys are not wasting time at all and the results are impressive.Alrighty then! Now I would like to know a bit about our track of the week: What do like about "Come & Get it"? What is the special thing it has to make it the song you picked for Music to Open Another Door?
I think that the driving beat of "Come & Get It" really brings people in. It is good rocker that makes you bob your head and has a great chorus to sing along to. My favourite part of "Come & Get It" is when the drums and vocals come together after the bridge. I think it adds a really cool dimension to the song.
Loved the “bob your head” and I’m completely agree with all you said. Really nice arrangements.I must ask the common question on an interview, but I actually like this kind of info. How long have you been together? Are you also married?
We have been together for seven years. We started playing when we were at college at the University of Kentucky where Josh and I met. We dated throughout college and then started playing together. After I graduated in 2011 we got married and made the move to Nashville, TN.
Marriage and move to Nashville – That’s a plan! Loved it!What is the main thing that defines your sound? What influences do you think you have? I know The Beatles, Norah Jones, Radiohead, Ryan Adams, Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings, the Black Keys, Wilco and Led Zeppelin are some of them but I would like to know more about it.
I don't think we can narrow it down to one main influence. We draw from so many different styles, and I think that is one of the biggest things that most of our influences have in common. The Beatles never let one sound define them. They played what they wanted and didn't let anyone tell them what they were. Norah Jones, who is my favourite artist, does whatever she wants. She will go from singing back ground on a hip hop song to playing country will her band The Little Willies and then put out an amazing jazz record. I think that we like these artists because they don't seem to back down from a challenge. They don't want to continuously put out the same music because they know it will work. They try new things because that is what drives them. They don't let the fear of someone not liking something they do impact their music, and that is how I want to be. I want to put out music that I love and that I am proud of, if other people like it that is great, if they don't that doesn't matter because I like what I'm doing.
Wonderful answer and most of followers of this playlist will love this point of view. Music to Open Another Door plays with this philosophy based on The Beatles career. Many sounds converging into one name showing how versatile things can be but still be put together. Great answer again guys!You are from Nashville which means you are living in a beautiful awesome music nest. My favourite guy around there is Mr. Jack White (The Willy Wonka of Rock n Roll) and his Third Man Records building which is the world’s only live venue with direct-to-acetate recording capabilities. Does Nashville impacts on your music life?
I think that living in Nashville has definitely made us better. For one thing everyone here plays music. Every show that you play here you have to bring your game because everyone else is doing the same. We have so many friends that play music down her and I feel like we push each other to be our best.
This is one of my places to visit on my next trip to the US.If there was one word to define the band sound and style, which one will be? you can explain why and how did actually find one word haha.
Diverse.
That took way longer than it should have. It is super hard to come up with one word to describe yourself. I think diverse is a really good word though. With all the different styles that influence us and how our sound is kind of hard to nail down I think that diverse is the best word.
After the answer of influences, I couldn’t on anything better.What are you planning after this Album? another Album/EP coming or gigs first or both at the same time? share your vision of the band.
We are doing a little bit of both. We are playing gigs in support of the record, getting this new music out to people. We don't really stop playing even when we are writing and recording. It's pretty much going all the time which we enjoy. We already have several songs written for our next album. So, we will probably be starting writing for that more steadily soon and then start recording next year. We really like to try and put out a record every two years. "Trouble Comes" took a little bit longer due to some member changes, but we really want to hit the ground running on the next release.
Solid plans and activity from this band. Better keep an eye on them because it looks they never stop working on their music.Gig dates for the fan and new comers?

I don’t know what else do you think this interview needs apart from a good writer and maybe more experience on doing it.

About the curator - Rodrigo Medrano
At a very early age, music had an incredible impact on Rodrigo’s life. He was never able to listen to lullaby songs; instead he was served Guns n’ Roses and Aerosmith for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
At the age of 12, he became a melomaniac, collecting albums, EP’s, recording sessions, and researching every kind of genre. All this helped him to get his first job at a recording studio where he realized his life would forever revolve around sound and music.
Working on cruise ships as First Audio Technician allowed him to let loose his passion and expand his knowledge on psychoacoustics, eventually promoted up to being in charge of sound for the hit broadway shows: Rock of Ages and Burn The Floor.
His music library will never stop growing as his melomania will get worse and worse.
