When I started this list I wanted to not only give anyone who listened to it a good taste of what the south can and will do on a major level but also on an indie level too. So I came across the guy while going through some stuff i wanted to add to my list. And after doing some homework on him i was pretty amazed on how he delivered that southern twang being from so close to the north east.

You feel it as soon as the song starts. Warm, heavy and ambient the instrumental draws you in before she even begins to sing, and when she does you understand. The combination of the amazing production of Galimatias and the soft voice of Alina Baraz is unmatched by any collaborative effort I’ve heard between a vocalist and producer in a long time.

And guess what I’m the type of person who love wallowing in her sadness. And maybe you like to do that too, so that’s why you’re here. Kamasi Washington is a Los Angeles native who has brought jazz to a whole new generation of listeners. He is a phenomenally talented saxophone player who has toured with big name acts, and is now touring under his own compositions with his own band, the West Coast Get Down, a collective of young jazz giants. I actually went to high school with Kamasi, and even back then I would hear him play and think, “whoa, this guy is amazing!”

Poco has to be one of the most underrated bands of the 70s. The trio consisted of Richie Furay, Rusty Young and Jim Messina, all former members of Buffalo Springfield who formed this group after Buffalo Springfield disbanded. Messina was also part of a soft rock duo with Kenny Loggins. They created the precious musical jewels “Danny’s Song” and “Angry Eyes.”
