Here’s a track from another talented saxophonist, Braxton Cook, which will put you in the mood to just chill and vibe and say “ooooo.” A friend of mine introduced me to Braxton’s music a few months ago and I haven’t found a track of his that I didn’t like. He is definitely a young musician on the rise. I highly recommend checking out some of his live performances on youtube, or in person if you can.

Meat is Murder – The Smiths

Opening to the prolonged sound of cattle howling and the machinery of death grinding and whirring, Meat is Murder pulled no punches. This is a difficult song for me because I love The Smiths but I also eat meat, so this song is asking me to consider a grisly reality that, frankly, I would sooner ignore. From my point of view, musing the cultural significance of music, that’s very interesting. From the point of view of the cattle, it’s a different story.

Silverchair are an Australian band which formed in 1992, when I was 12 years old and so were they, I was wide eyed for sure – Wow! How cool is that! Initially, and briefly calling themselves the Innocent Criminals, the three young men, Daniel Johns guitar and vocals, Ben Gillies on Drums and Chris Joannou on Bass went on to win major awards regularly. Rolling Stone ranked Daniel Johns at number 18 on Rolling Stone’s list of The 25 Most Underrated Guitarists.

Afrobeat is the mother that births and inspires a lot of what we listen today from new emerging artist. The father of that sound was the legendary revolutionary musician, Late Fela Anikulapo Kuti.
