My general rule is that tracks with lyrics are not the best music to write to ‘cos you get distracted by the words – i.e. they compete for space in your language centers – better to not have them around if you’re looking to create your own. However – there’s always the expectation to the rule and this track proves it pretty nicely.
The word that come to mind when listening to this music is “charming” – I’m love with the whole piece – it feels young and playful and just welcoming. When the beat track comes in after a minute it evokes the kind of vintage video game you might have played in the 90’s. And then the vocal track comes in…and it’s a cute female avatar talking about finding gold or picking locks and generally being cool and badass! It makes me smile and I’m just buoyed along by the good-natured feel of the whole track – I’m grinning as I write this!Submitted a few weeks back from one of our new curators Argentinian / Croatian composer Vranko Magas – it has an insane genesis – here’s Vranko himself:
“In August 2016, I began an investigation project into how plants feel and react with music. I used an Italian prototype of a device to translate the electric pulses of the plants to MIDI. The experience was so revealing that I begin to record the experiences in studio. ”Sigila Violeta” was the first release of this project in which a “plant” composed part of the melody and “plays” the bells and I think is perfect for this kind of playlist.”

I love living today – it’s awesome. So – stick this on repeat – get a smile on your face and spring in your step and start churning those words out!
But as I’ve moved from ideation to manifestation, the energy of the playlist needed to change – solo piano is good for thinking – but 8 minutes of 130 bpm edm is great for getting things down
So if you’ve been listening to the playlist recently you know what’s coming. Last week’s track was all about setting the intent for change – away from the more relaxing ideation space of solo instrumentation to this week’s electronic track from Cristoph, Yotto and Sansa.
I’ve known for a while that the feel of the list was going to change – while piano instrumentals are perfect for reflection and ideation – at some point you need some energetic input to get your fingers moving.
The first visual memory I have is that of the white upright piano in Singapore, Hell and the Dark Forces lived at the bottom, Heaven and the Angels at the top, they would play battles through my fingers and I was hooked.
