About this Playlist
This is a painstakingly-curated list of some of the most unique and talented female artists or female-fronted bands out in the world today! These are songs that I have listened to again and again, and never tire at their genius. Every single woman on this artist has given me so much inspiration, from so many different angles. You often see I’m attracted to a good old FUNK tune, or magical electronic production, but this list really has everything from indie rock to folktronica, to soul to rap. At the end of the day, to me an artist has to have a very strong melodic sensibility. It’s the vocal melodies/arrangements and their richness and that really show the mark of a good musician to me (something I’m really trying to master in my own songwriting). I’ve also seen most of these women perform live and their confidence and swagger are elements I hope to attain one day!
