There’s something so powerful and immersive about the imagery of this track that just pulls me in – and the opening is just one facet of it:
I will bathe myself / Then I'll wear you for the night / Colors fading, frayed at the sides
Speaking on the track during its release, Steadman noted, “I think there is a romantic side to it, although I always try to leave the meaning side of a song and theme wide open.” But with “Luna” being the latin word for “moon”, I can’t help but feel like extended metaphor of celestial bodies for romantic love - works really nicely from the get go – where the singer compares his earthly love to both the moon and the sun – an ‘out of this world’ compliment if I do say so myself. (sorry).
Taken from their album “So Long, See You Tomorrow”, this track was written by Jack Steadman during a trip through India, Turkey, Europe and Tokyo – that which is reflected through the menagerie of tones that permeate throughout it. This quality of fusion can be heard in the 80s style dance rhythms of the song, echoed by a voice of female singers. The entire album itself takes its influence from this wide spectrum of sounds – from Turkish jazz horns to Japanese techno, this album covers it all.
The music video for the track features a group of synchronised swimmers from England’s Olympic team, a physical embodiment of the freewheeling spirit that cultivated this track and the album in its entirety
