The playlist is representative of Andrew’s and Aarushi’s journeys—of leaving their homes and starting anew in another country. Threading sounds from across the world, the playlist spans continents, eras, genres, themes, essentially blossoming from conversations they’ve indulged in over the last seven years of knowing each other.
As the playlist moves from contemporary jazz to progressive and classic rock, from psychedelic world music to bluesy grooves, and even indie folk, it evokes a sense of discovery and feels like a road trip through cultures and time, bridged often by familiar sounds. At the same time, it rests on the idea of home—not a physical space, but an acoustic safe haven.
The theme of travel and connection in movement underline the play order. From the imagery of Last Train Home and Steppin’ Out and the cultural fusions of Gaye Su Akyol and Shakti, Andrew and Aarushi recreate their trajectories while exploring the defiance and raw emotion in PJ Harvey and Paolo Nutini, deep grooves in Night Ride and Evan Finds the Third Room, social and political reflection through Iron Sky and Lady, and sheer musical virtuosity Mind Ecology, Sultans of Swing.

About the Curators
Aarushi Aggarwal
Andrew McCluskey
The first visual memory I have is that of the white upright piano in Singapore, Hell and the Dark Forces lived at the bottom, Heaven and the Angels at the top, they would play battles through my fingers and I was hooked.
As a psychology graduate I studied how sound affects human performance.
As a musician I compose instrumental music that stimulates your brain but doesn't mess with your language centers, leaving you free to write creatively without distraction.
As a curator I research how music can improve your life and create flow - I can tell you what music to listen to when studying for a test and why listening to sad music can make you feel better.
As a creator / contributor at musicto I believe that music can make the world better. You can learn more about our community here.
