Is there anyone out there who doesn’t have a copy of the seminal psychedelic album, “Forever Changes” released first in 1967? Maybe it’s passed you by; if so, then this song should give you a flavour of what to expect with its gentle guitars, harmonies and orchestration.
The band Love featured the virtuoso Arthur Lee as singer/songwriter. Before the (inevitable?) descent into drink and drugs and following the release of “Da Capo” as an album that drew minor critical acclaim, “Forever Changes” grew into a hipster LP to be cherished amongst the musical cognoscenti of LA. Innovative rhythmical changes and poignant lyrics, allied to lush arrangements gave Love’s sound a distinctive feel.
I managed to catch a live re-run of the album played by an ageing Lee in 2004…and it was still fab! A must-listen!

In reality I spent thirty years imparting imperfect knowledge of English literature and drama to young minds in school. Regrets? No. I loved teaching; loved the interaction with the pupils, and made lifelong friends as a result. And what better way to keep up to date with music?
