When I first heard this band, and this song specifically, I could not get enough of them. Kashmiri lyrics set to a guitar riff was ingenious and novel to me. Parvaaz became the new sound of India's indie space and I haven't gotten enough of their music since.
I have had the fortune of watching the band perform live (incidentally the first time I heard them was at a music festival). The energy they bring to the stage is insurmountable. The entire set was so beautifully performed but Gul Gulshan took the cake. The way the track builds up--almost mysterious in ways--sings so passionately about the glory of Spring (nuw baharuk shaan, Ni paida kar fallan gul gath karan BulBul, tithuy samaan paida kar). It alludes to earthquakes and thunder that would incite the bloom of roses. The song, in all its fine imagery, presented in an almost grunge rock sound, is beautiful yet haunting.
If you're celebrating nature's creation, put on Gul Gulshan.
