What stuck out for me with this new concept album was that it’s about the childhood of the lead singer, Brandon Flowers, in his hometown. If you’ve gone through the entire album, the introduction of most of its tracks are individuals telling their stories. I absolutely loved that The Killers chose to incorporate that factor because it made the album much more true, meaningful, and relatable.
I’ve been following The Killers for quite some time now and I realized that their lyrics often take on stories, their words are so specific and raw, and it can’t help but linger in our thoughts– it’s really powerful if you’d ask me. This song, “The Getting By,” is a perfect end to the tracklist and there’s a reason I had to put it in my playlist. So give it a listen and expect something to take away from it.
