Season of Changes – Brian Blade and the Fellowship Band

Brian Blade is one of my all-time favorite drummers, and overall musicians, and musicians and music fans all over the world agree. I’ve had the opportunity to see Brian Blade perform on several occasions, and it is a performance not to be missed.

Big Homie – Blake Featuring Trill Sammy

OK so normally when my kids come to visit me and my son tend to wander off to my desk and start to compare music and artist we like that are not signed to majors or not that well heard of like some of the others but still great artist. On our latest visit me and my son sat around listening to artist on YouTube and SoundCloud. He pointed out a couple artist that him and his sister listen to quite often and I’m really digging what these guys are doing.

Abandoned Mansion – Dr. Dog

Dr. Dog has been steadily releasing music for fourteen years, and every album they come out with seems to get better and better – these guys churn out good music as if it is easy. They are one of those bands you know but can never remember the name of, until now…

Hell to the Liars – London Grammar

An intimate lyricist and distant sounds, a strangely perfect conflict of interests. This relationship is a subtle exploration of balance: to be so distant, you had to be as close, and vis versa. The lyrics have a selfish meaning behind them, saying “here’s to the things you love, hell to the rest of us.”…

Someone’s Missing – MGMT

MGMT always seems to find me when no other music seems to. Of course they are best known for their freshman album Oracular Spectacular, but it is not commonly known that their upbeat psychedelic pop transferred into Congratulations, its just a little harder to find…

Parade – Kevin Morby

When you hear the word “parade” what do you think about? Probably a joyous occasion with people smiling and waving and celebrating with one another. But to Kevin Morby, a parade sets the scene for solitude and a pondering of his own life…

Sigila Violeta – Vranko Magas

My general rule is that tracks with lyrics are not the best music to write to ‘cos you get distracted by the words – i.e. they compete for space in your language centers – better to not have them around if you’re looking to create your own.  However – there’s always the expectation to the rule and this track proves it pretty nicely.

ISKABA – Wande Coal ft DJ Tunez

With a Catchy phrase and paced instrumentation,  Wande Coal exerts his vocal prowess on this balanced rhythm progression . I knew it was a radio jam the first time time I heard it .

Wande, a.k.a. WC, like most great musicians started singing in the teenage choir at his church. He continued improving on his vocals skill and craft till he got signed in 2006 by Don Jazzy‘s Mo’hits records…

Song On The Beach – Arcade Fire

Sometimes beauty is nostalgic or maybe sometimes nostalgia is beautiful, this song is a perfect example of such. The delicate softness of a piano motif that fits a very personal mood, a mood that permeates the movie for which this music was created in a very deep way.

Tender Love – Force Md’s

Added to the playlist this week is a classic throwback. “Tender Love” by Force Md’s is a smooth soulful joint many might remember.

Tubthumping – Chumbawamba

Another week is in the highlight reel as we drive on into whatever journey lay in front of us. This band is one of my all-time favorites because of their willingness and ability to stand in the face of oppression and authority and politely raise their middle fingers. Formed in 1982, Chumbawamba has undergone numerous stylistic changes, drawing an audience from various listeners and groups. One thing remained consistent for this British band, and that was their moral compass…
