Rockabilly Funeral – Bill Kirchen

Here we have it folks…. The undisputed King of Diesel-Billy or as he was known in the 70’s as “The Titan of The Telecaster”.

I have no doubt, that all of you car lovers out there know why Bill’s “Rockabilly Funeral” has made an appearance….

Dark Child – Marlon Williams

Marlon Williams uses a very unique narrative type when writing lyrics for his songs. Sometimes he sings from the perspective of made up characters, but in Dark Child, he sings as himself as he ponders what it might be like to have a child. He looks at himself and how his child will grow up to have the same doubts and slightly depressing outlook on life he does. The song takes an interesting shift when he says, “Looking in from the outside.” Take a listen for yourself.

Close To Me – The Cure

She can hear the tiny voice now, it has always been there talking, telling her.  Stirring until awake, the eyes of the tiny voice are open, she is ready to roar. Her time spent with a candle in the dark to find that voice in the distance has paid off, she can hear her, she is her. I have waited hours for this, I’ve made myself so sick….. It is ironic that we surely know ourselves the most, but when feeling fragmented, I know I don’t always feel….Close to me.

Household Goods – Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs

This is a high quality production track with many layers that never gets boring!

It has a melancholic vibe to it, but when it comes to sound, voice and lyrics it is also strangely upbeat. In the minute the beat sets in, the track becomes really powerful and suddenly you feel like on a massive rave where you can let totally go of all your sadness and anger, where you can fall beautifully apart!

Season of Changes – Brian Blade and the Fellowship Band

Brian Blade is one of my all-time favorite drummers, and overall musicians, and musicians and music fans all over the world agree. I’ve had the opportunity to see Brian Blade perform on several occasions, and it is a performance not to be missed.

Big Homie – Blake Featuring Trill Sammy

OK so normally when my kids come to visit me and my son tend to wander off to my desk and start to compare music and artist we like that are not signed to majors or not that well heard of like some of the others but still great artist. On our latest visit me and my son sat around listening to artist on YouTube and SoundCloud. He pointed out a couple artist that him and his sister listen to quite often and I’m really digging what these guys are doing.

ISKABA – Wande Coal ft DJ Tunez

With a Catchy phrase and paced instrumentation,  Wande Coal exerts his vocal prowess on this balanced rhythm progression . I knew it was a radio jam the first time time I heard it .

Wande, a.k.a. WC, like most great musicians started singing in the teenage choir at his church. He continued improving on his vocals skill and craft till he got signed in 2006 by Don Jazzy‘s Mo’hits records…

Song On The Beach – Arcade Fire

Sometimes beauty is nostalgic or maybe sometimes nostalgia is beautiful, this song is a perfect example of such. The delicate softness of a piano motif that fits a very personal mood, a mood that permeates the movie for which this music was created in a very deep way.

Tubthumping – Chumbawamba

Another week is in the highlight reel as we drive on into whatever journey lay in front of us. This band is one of my all-time favorites because of their willingness and ability to stand in the face of oppression and authority and politely raise their middle fingers. Formed in 1982, Chumbawamba has undergone numerous stylistic changes, drawing an audience from various listeners and groups. One thing remained consistent for this British band, and that was their moral compass…

Bloodline – S.O.S

A hero should be the voice of unity. If the true evils of the world are intolerance and prejudice, then it’s our job as superheroes to battle against them in whatever way we can.

Put the Gun Down – Anja Kotar

Not only is this a hauntingly beautiful song, but it’s also a highly relevant one.  With all the extended media coverage of the seemingly increasing incidences of mass shootings and suicides across the world, “Put the Gun Down” by Anja Kotar is rather timely.  She shares the story behind this powerful tune:
