Gearing up for the summertime, I couldn't think of a more warming track than Roy Ayers, Everybody Loves the Sunshine. Another classic soulful jazz record from the 70s that gives you summertime feels no matter the season. Released in 1976 on Roy Ayers self-titled album, Roy Ayers, the mix of jazz elements with the instrumentation of a vibraphone, a piano and a synthesizer gives you an undeniable feel of warmth for the soul. The lyrics immediately suggest its all about feeling, "Feel what I feel, when I feel what I feel, what I'm feeling...folks get down in the sunshine, folks get brown in the sunshine, just bees and things and flowers." It doesn't get any simpler than that! :)
Roy Ayers an American funk, soul, and jazz composer, vibraphone player, and music producer. Also, known as the pioneer of jazz-funk, he is a key figure in the acid jazz movement and dubbed the "Godfather of Neo Soul."
Nothing warms my soul more than music I grew up on! And classic 70s soul, funk, and jazz is a cornerstone of this playlist.
