Indie r&b artist Kyle Dion stunned listeners when he dropped "Cool Side of the Pillow" with producers Th3ory, Bizness Boi, and LosHendrix. The track starts out with a dreamy guitar with a spotlight on Dion's smooth vocals and follows him as he retells the story of him and a lover. Though the lyrics show that Dion's been heartbroken, he jumps back into the relationship and the energy of the chorus of vocals tells us he's not too sad about it. The simple sound of the guitar is soon left behind as Dion gives into his temptation and the song turns sultry.
Soon enough, Dion breaks out his signature groove with a moving bass line and bobbing drums that are practically irresistible. The drums and cymbals as well shine and shimmer and make the song feel ethereal. His gorgeous falsetto floats above the instruments as if he's transcended and by the end of the chorus, you're definitely hooked.
After you've gotten a taste though, Dion switches it up with a new melody equally as enchanting and sultry as the rest but with less of a groove. He lets you sink into his voice and the chorus of angelic voices just to bring you right back to reality and the second verse again.
As the song progresses, Dion becomes more and more comfortable, gracing us with his dazzling riffs and wide range. The most impressive part, though, is he's never afraid to switch up the melody or rhythm so the listeners always looking forward to something new but familiar. By the last chorus, Dion's included a gorgeous riff from every inch of his range and it works beautifully.
Though Dion seems to be in a pretty sticky situation, his "Cool Side of the Pillow" still completely swept me away and you'll soon be obsessed too.

As an 18 year old who just moved to New York City to study Music Business at NYU, I’m constantly finding myself in unfamiliar territory and have come to realize I’m not going to settle in anytime soon. So, while I’ve been exploring the city and growing from each experience, I’ve racked up a pretty extensive list of the best music I’ve come across and want to keep sharing this art with you. When I'm not discovering and sharing new music though, I'm writing and creating my own music to share with the world. In fact, I’m working on releasing my debut EP right now!
