Let's describe the song shall we?
WARNING: This song will make you want to rock out (Get ready for Air guitars)
The song starts with a jazzy drum beat and a bassline that will make you snap your fingers, followed by a sick guitar riff that would make you want to jump - to kick off the intro. The song will take you on a rollercoaster ride with bits and pieces of the 90’s Rock era from start to end, which is an absolute delight! The track’s intro alone will dish out a punk rock vibe, reminiscent of Greenday’s Hitchin’ A Ride. The edgy guitar riffs, the heavy drum hits, and the alternative –distinct vocal tones in this track will make you feel like you’re rocking out to a 90’s Rock concert. Listen to the track so you will know and experience what I’m talking about. The song is at a 172-ish bpm, and is catchy as hell. WHAT?! You haven’t rocked out to the song yet? – NOT COOL… NOT COOL at all..
KOI is a four-man Alternative Rock band from Paranaque, a city south of Manila. The band’s name comes from the Japanese term “KOI”, which translates to “A general feeling of Love”. They did not deviate from this theme as the lyrics to their music mainly talk about positivity, love, life, and good vibes. Their distinct sound is mainly influenced by bands from the 90’s Alternative Rock era, from the likes of Pearl Jam to the Foo fighters. I got the chance to talk to Mike, the band’s singer/guitarist, and here’s what he has to say about their new Single “Make it happen”
“The song Make it happen is inspired from the law of attraction - that if you put your mind and body into something you want, then it is bound to happen. We hope that this song gives inspiration to the dreamers and doers. We only live once, so let’s make great things happen!”

About the Curator - Nik Abat
Nik is an Engineer, an Indie Artist, and a Music Producer from the Philippines. He fell in love with Music when he learned how to play the guitar and started to write songs when he was 11. He sings and plays all the instruments on all the tracks he produces. His music revolves around the Alternative Rock genre (slightly favoring a more "movie soundtrack" vibe, with the occasional ambient sounds, synths, and screams/growls on the side), mixed with new elements as he loves to experiment with sound.
He wears a mask and never shows his face to his audience, as he believes that you need not a face to make a difference. He is an advocate of Indie Music, and constantly promotes Indie Artists in the Philippines. He is always down to collaborate, and can be reached via Spotify, Instagram, and Facebook.
