Time slips away when you build a foundation of love between you and another. It’s a ride that seems to slow down time, as life speeds 100 miles an hour outside of your sphere of love. This love is full of beautiful highs, questionable turns, and challenging obstacles. This is nothing new to the human experience, but it is an experience many of us can take for granted.
Hearing Lianne La Havas track here allowed me to reminisce about the time that has slipped away from me, and the time spent in nurturing a life with another. More so than any, this year has forced some of us to slow down, and as you slow down, things start to get a little more transparent.
Although the globe is in an unsteady time, it’s clear that humanity all around the world has slowed down in one way or the other. It’s in times of uncertainty that I believe humans simplify and get back to what matters, whatever that may be to you.
La Havas simplicity within this track , of having a home and real love, created a feeling of hope and accomplishment towards this up and down year. While the course was greatly altered I was able to get a wider view of the life I’ve been living and the people that make my life, my life. La Havas’s way for melody and songwriting always hit a cord that allows my mind to settle and take a soft look at what my life has become and is becoming.
La Havas self titled album comes five years following her album, Blood. As expressed above, ‘Green Papaya’ and the wider span of the album is a perfect soundtrack to a year full of twist, turns, explorations, and discoveries. I encourage all to dig into this track and further into her album.
