The 70s had some of the best slow jams. Love songs were actually about love. Roberta Flack's "Feel Like Makin' Love," from the album of the same title, is a worthy entry into the 70s catalog of golden love song hits. The silky tune blazed up the music charts in 1974 and remained at number one for a week on Billboard's Hot 100 Singles. Written by Kansas City's own Gene McDaniels, the jazzy R&B hit would go on to be covered by several musicians, including D'Angelo and George Benson.
This was Flack's third hit single and certainly wouldn't be her last. The musical prodigy was a major influence on the 70s airwaves and defined the era's classy R&B ballads. This smash hit received three well-deserved Grammy nominations in 1974. Music is part of the soundtrack of our lives and Flack's "Feel Like Makin' Love" is a sultry reminder that love is about attraction, on all levels.
