Ivan says:
Jorge threw a brick, It was in the form of a track “for Blockhead lovers”.
When Jorge throws his bricks I always hear how they sound.
This time, I decided to grab his brick and asked him if he could bring more. I proposed to bring them in blocks of 3, so that we can see best how they look together in forms of macro-shapes.
Some of the bricks we chose were old and dusty, but still could produce a solid and round sound. Others were newer and very sharp and could adapt well to fill any type of cavity.
While we started building, I discovered also that many of Jorge’s bricks were actually very similar to mine, making the process to build this house of sound very easy.
I actually had the feeling it would be so from the beginning, it was just a question of rolling up our sleeves and work together,
Jorge thinks:
Jorge thinks, then he throws bricks hoping it will land in someone’s head (metaphorically speaking). Sometimes it hits, sometimes it misses, and all that I want is to think that it teases.
But teasing as an invitation to discover, not only to blatantly spam my taste upon a bunch of people. I always like to share things I like and finding out that the brick landed in someone’s head (metaphorically speaking) feels great.
I’m a very melancholic individual and this playlist takes me back to my first years at university where I was going through a lot of changes and discoveries and music was of course one of the important ones because I met several people with similar taste.
Blockhead, the reason for this playlist, was recommended to me by a classmate called Johnny because “the music video is cool to watch when you’re high, dude” and while I don’t do anything besides water and cheese it sparked my curiosity because it was an animated video. Then I found out the rest of his music had a vibe so here we are, talking about Blockhead 14 years later.

About the Curators
Ivan Santini
Natural born Italian, built by 100% Sicilian components, upgraded by residing in many parts of Europe. The latest version of me lives in Hungary, has a wonderful wife + 2 kids and works as a Data professional. Some call us “scientists”, but I totally believe it’s an undeserved attribute.
As much as I may have grips on the ways music algorithmically travels today to everyone’s table, I love to avoid “local minimums”. I prefer to listen to what humans suggest, what vibrations they describe when they talk about music. I often ask myself why an artist puts tracks in that specific order or I hunt down who or what is influencing them.
Research, experimentalism, cross-genres, sounds of the world usually hit me defencelessly, but so do notes as solid as “rock”. You can also find me lost in the many little holes of the 80s, like if the unconscious me-child gets comfort from what he was listening to but not understanding back then.
Jorge Pedbra
Yorgos has been listening to music and discovering different genres/subgenres for over 20 years now, and it all truly began for him with Gorillaz, Daft Punk, and Audioslave.
Those bands marked his music taste for what he is today, it also helped him develop a very strange yet interesting personality (although he's never really been too eager to socialize constantly). He's a pretty laidback guy who's easy to talk to but can sometimes be misinterpreted because of his blunt and accentuated way of speaking and thinking. He's good willed and harmless.
Back in 2006 he was having an overwhelmingly good music boom and not all of the music he wanted to stream was uploaded in Youtube so he made it his duty to upload and share all that missing music through a channel he created called Funkroza, in there people would find all the missing French Touch / Funky House music and later one some more genres. Over time he’s amassed almost 9 million views but his golden days are yet to return.
At some point he felt like trying several music programs to remix his favourite songs but most of them were, in his words, “pretty trashy”. After some years he slowly drifted away and semi-abandoned it but has got fully back to it in 2020.
While he's always had trouble reading because of apprehensive problems he's always had a thing for philosophy, and philosophizing. This is also a very important thing for him when it comes to music. He is a natural overthinker and music is one of the subjects.
Nature is also a very appealing thing to him, it's what drives his feelings into the very best version of themselves.
