About this Playlist
Discovering new bands and music is thrilling. It’s one of the reasons I subscribe to discover and weekly release playlists on streaming services. This may be one of the reasons you do as well. And hey, sometimes the algorithms get things right. Sometimes.
Too often, however, you end up with the 1000th version of “20th Century Boy” (I used to love this song) or remastered award-winning hits that have been around for 10+ years. Of course, there is nothing wrong with that, but it can be a bit frustrating when looking for a playlist featuring new artists or even current songs from established ones. Enter Amp the Alt.
Amp the Alt is a revolving playlist of new alternative, punk, psych, folk, blues, garage and indie rock bands, as well as fresh tracks from more established artists. While this playlist may not be a solution for me, I hope it is one for you. And although I can’t possibly promise that you’ll fall in love with every single track that I add (we all have our own tastes), I do promise that you’ll find new bands, and that the 1001st version of “20th Century Boy” will never appear here!
