Each week, our global creator community listens to tracks sent through our musicto artist submission form. And each week we add favorites to our musicto Monday playlist. Three times per month we invite one musicto curator to choose an artist to put in the spotlight. This week, music curator Jenna Barton puts New Jersey musician mxrgan in the spotlight:

While going through the track submissions from the pop section in our musicto Circle social network, I came across mxrgans’ single, “best thing to happen to me.” After hitting play, I instantly fell in love with his voice and the lyrics and I wanted more. I Immediately saved his track to my Spotify and it has been played on a heavy rotation since.
Meaning of the song “best thing to happen to me” by mxrgan
New Jersey native mxrgan’s music reminded me a lot of what I have been listening to lately, but in his own unique way. Right away, I got a notion of artists like Alexander 23, Clinton Kane, and Jeremy Zucker.
What I loved the most is that I could really get the feelings between the artist and the meaning of the song. It was something that I really connected with. “best thing to happen to me” is a song about a new love interest in the life of the artist. I felt like I was listening to a beautiful love story and I did not want it to end. I could feel the emotions right alongside the artist, I was hooked, completely tuned in to his voice all the way to the end. I loved the artist’s ability to use his music to connect with others.

I always read the descriptions/write ups that go along with the submissions, and what stood out to me in this case was the write up sent with this track as well.
“The night before his first ever live show, he and a couple friends were in the studio trying to come up with something. After 30 minutes of free-styling to countless guitar loops, the melody “you’re the best thing” caught on within the group. Over and over, mxrgan repeated this. Eventually, an entire song was written through a continuous voice memo.”
His track submission made me curious to check out some of his other music. Of course I also fell in love with those as well. Like his other recently released singles, “Fall’ and “Stay Away.”
Mxrgan sent his track “best thing to happen to me” a few weeks ago, and with the hopes we would love this one as much as he does and we definitely do.
In fact, mxrgan’s track inspired me to make a short playlist with other songs and artists who give me a similar feeling the way “best thing to happen to me” does when I listen to it.
