The time I realized something wasn’t as scary as it first seemed was when I started going to places on my own. Whether it be a concert or travelling half way around the world, my mind was full of questions like, Should I really do this? What if something goes wrong?
Being away from everything familiar was both thrilling and terrifying, yet every day I proved to myself that I could handle it. But instead of letting those moments define me, I learned from them. They showed me I can think under pressure and trust myself more than I realized. I wouldn’t have gotten to take this picture.
I also learned that being alone doesn’t have to mean being lonely. Some of my favorite memories came from quiet moments. And when I did meet people, I realized how kind and open most of them were. It made the world feel smaller, friendlier, more connected.
The more time passed, the more I understood that letting go of control can be freeing. I didn’t have every day planned, and that was okay.
Now I know that what once felt scary was really just unfamiliar. I came out of it stronger, lighter, and ready for whatever comes next.
