Andrew

The first visual memory I have is that of the white upright piano in Singapore, Hell and the Dark Forces lived at the bottom, Heaven and the Angels at the top, they would play battles through my fingers and I was hooked.

As a psychology graduate I studied how sound affects human performance.

As a musician I compose instrumental music that stimulates your brain but doesn't mess with your language centers, leaving you free to write creatively without distraction.

As a curator I research how music can improve your life and create flow - I can tell you what music to listen to when studying for a test and why listening to sad music can make you feel better.

As a creator / contributor at musicto I believe that music can make the world better.

What I'm doing now

Playlists

Lost and Found – Prof. Lacasse

27 August 2019

Sometimes one idea is all it takes.

And it doesn’t need to be a big idea or even a terribly well formed one – but from the moment it comes into existence – it can change your life.

Los and Found literally grabbed me by the ear yesterday and said “write about me”…

A Sunny Day Like This – Golda

22 August 2019

Simple is hard – particularly in today’s complex and complicated world.

I was running down the credits of the tracks at the top of Spotify’s “Todays Top Hits” playlist (with its 23 million+ subscribers) and of the top 5 or 6 tracks – the average number of songwriters was around 7. Even over on Rap Caviar it averages around 3 people to write the track – let alone perform it…

I Need You – Joan Armatrading

14 August 2019

Late
At night
I feel so lonely
There’s a body next to mine but I’m feeling cold…

Oh yes – we know that feeling don’t we – and of course the questions start to come…

Parallel Universe – Siivers

13 August 2019

I only have one rule for the Essay Writing list – actually – you know what – that’s bullshit – I have absolutely no rules at all for this list. What I do have is general guidelines. Rules – while good for society – tend to homogenize playlists and I’m looking to make this thing as disparate and accessible as possible!…

Maria Lehua Fish – Music to Curator Interview

9 August 2019

Hi there world! I am Maria Lehua Fish, originally from Kaua’i, Hawai’i but hanging in Petaluma, CA at the moment – a little north of San Francisco.

I currently live my life by walking doggos, farming vegetables/flowers, a smidge of digital marketing and putting on secret live music shows around San Francisco – all whilst cruzing around in an old Subaru outback with the windows down and the music always a little too loud. All in an effort to spend more time with plants, music, and allowing time to create all the art I possibly can…

Shipwreck – Marcos Ciscar

7 August 2019

Recently, the playlist has been driven by words – by lyric – by the articulation of vowels and consonants to give voice to a story. And that’s a good thing – there’s an infinite number of stories out there and words are a great tool to understand and make sense of them…

Bipolar Disorder – Rudegaze

6 August 2019

Certain tracks, like certain Artists just get under your skin. They’re different from other tracks – and not necessarily in a good way – but you keep coming back to them – like dead Irishmen who live under your skin – they’re in there and all you can do is scratch…

Til Death – Gaijin, Aamowi

31 July 2019

Grief is exhausting.

Aside from the mental aspect – it can take a huge physical toll on the body. And I’m not just talking about the lack of sleep or bad diet – I’m referring to the wracking pain in your chest after you’ve cried yourself out…

Meditation – Outerspace

31 July 2019

So I’m going through a phase where the words aren’t exactly coming easy – shocker Huh?! I bet none of you have ever experienced anything like it.

Insert sarcastic smiley face here!..
