The feeling when you experience listening to this playlist, “Happy Feelin’s”. But seriously, the “Warm the Soul” playlist is to evoke positive sentiments while listening and this Maze classic encompasses those exact emotions, again it’s a perfect fit. A soulful R&B classic released in 1977 off Maze featuring Frankie Beverly’s debut self-titled album, “Happy Feelin’s” is the standout classic! Another track with a beautiful introduction, followed by a simple but rhythmic chant, “Doo-do-doo-doo, Happy Feelin’s in the air, touching people everywhere”. Isn’t that what music should be all about? Isn’t that exactly what this playlist is all about? Happy Feelins.
Maze, also know as Maze featuring Frankie Beverly and Frankie Beverly & Maze, is a soul band founded by Frankie Beverly in Philadelphia in 1970. Introduced to Marvin Gaye in 1976, Marvin took the band on the road with him as one of his opening acts and they became an immediate success. Maze would have success with albums Golden Time of Day (1978), Inspiration (1979), Joy and Pain (1980) and Live in New Orleans (1980) which would spawn the classic anthem “Before I Let Go”; becoming a staple of soul and R&B music in African-American households. Their sound is distinctive, passionate, creative, original, soulful, honest, and powerful. For thirty years Frankie Beverly and Maze have created a unique sound and become one of the most influential groups in history.
This track solidifies this playlist as a true soulful good vibe. As always, if you don’t believe, just give it a listen, I promise you will not be disappointed. Nothing but Happy Feelins. :)
