At the bottom of a ravine.
Freezing rain, soggy earth.
Gas station lights far off.
We reach out, lurching forward into a somersault. In flight, our mass accelerates into oblivion, sight reduced to moments of violet, burgundy and golden pulses. Moments of pain and openness run parallel: an equilibrium is found.
On his second EP, Infection, Saw continues to mine the intersection between glistening ambiance and heady, R&B-flecked ballads. “Incubation” straddles this line, nestling comfortably in the hours after midnight, unaffected by earthly ties but reeking of ozone. Metallic, androgynous vocals double back on themselves, splitting and sublimating into plumes of stark ivory, preluding a sort of contact ritual. The figure reaches and recoils, draws and unfurls. Our spinning throes nestle us further into a sanctuary where there is no dawn.
