Looking for great driving music to take you away from the city on a Friday night? Our musicto community’s Punk Country Roadtrip will speed you away from the concrete jungle in 0 to 60. Don’t worry, we’ve got music for driving fast, as well as music to slow down on sharp winding back roads. We even throw on a few atmospheric hillbilly tracks just in case you need to stop for directions at that creepy backwoods gas station in the bayou — let’s hope not, though.
What kind of music is on Punk Country Road Trip playlist?
We admit that it would be a little silly to call a playlist Punk Country Road Trip without adding these two genres. So, obviously, our Friday driving music playlist presses the accelerator on country and punk rock genres. However, you can also expect western music and subgenres including, but not limited to cowpunk, punk blues, country rap, bluegrass, blues, hillbilly, rockabilly, heartland rock and swamp music.
Of course, why stop with genres? The musicto community is brimming with curious listeners. And as music curators we often cross paths with artists who, while operating in other genres, drop a track or two outside of their usual box every once in a blue moon. For example, alternative rock bands Starcrawler, The Kills and Radiohead have all tried their hand at country or western. Rappers like Lil Nas X, Ludacris and Nelly have collaborated with country music artists. In fact, country rap, like cowpunk, is a fusion genre unto itself, combining country and hip hop.
With updates coming every seventh Friday, there will always be great new music for driving fast that you can look forward to on your punk country road trip!
Music for driving fast and occasionally driving slow
Punk Country Road Trip has loads of music for driving fast — as fast as possible — out of the city on a Friday night. But don’t forget this is also a playlist for dusty, winding backroads. And because we don’t want you crashing on a dead man’s curve, there will be some music for driving slow, or at the very least slower. Besides, do you really want to spend more than five seconds at Fred’s Oasis, Gas Haven, or worse, that gas station in Newt, Texas. We don’t want you to!
