Bloodline – S.O.S

A hero should be the voice of unity. If the true evils of the world are intolerance and prejudice, then it’s our job as superheroes to battle against them in whatever way we can.

Put the Gun Down – Anja Kotar

Not only is this a hauntingly beautiful song, but it’s also a highly relevant one.  With all the extended media coverage of the seemingly increasing incidences of mass shootings and suicides across the world, “Put the Gun Down” by Anja Kotar is rather timely.  She shares the story behind this powerful tune:

Call Me (Tribal Realities Remix) – Dub Terminator feat. Melloquence

The jellyfish descends again to colder waters.  We don’t mind the pressure down deep.  Inside out or outside in says the jellyfish.  Either way is fine, as long as I’m fed.

Our Streets – DJ Premier ft. A$AP Ferg

In late September,DJ Premier released a full-length Project with singer-songwriter Torii Wolf. Now, the legendary hip-hop producer is back with a new single featuring Harlem rapper AS$AP Ferg. It’s called “Our Streets” and marks the duo’s first joint effort.

Feels – Giraffage

Introducing a special track of mine as far as personal favorite songs go we have Giraffage – Feels. Before this song was “ruined” by the peanut butter baby vine it was an underground gem. A wavy percussion filled joyride with chopped up samples from the airplane scene in Adam Sandler’s The Wedding Singer.

Come & Get It – Year of October

Alright Ladies and Gentlemen! I’m proud of introduce this band that submitted this track and since then I’ve been listening to all their albums learning a bit more of them. Here they are – Year of October!

All the Way Home – Natalie Migdal

I really didn’t want to put up another devastating reflection of loss in love this week – with Seepeoples’ mea culpa followed by Heddwen’s unrequited longing – I was kinda hoping for something more morbid… and then I heard Natalie Migdal’s voice.

Prelude – Gian Marco La Serra

A little bit of Chopin, a taste of Beethoven, and some Dream Theater recalls too. This is the magic behind this wonderful track that slowly grows taking away your breath, the perfect mix between old and modern classical music.

Over – Julien Baker

The opener off Julien Baker’s latest record, Turn Out the Lights, is a short but sweet instrumental that sets the mood for the entire record.

Full English Brexit – Billy Bragg

Billy Bragg’s first solo release in four years is a six track mini album called Bridges Not Walls which concludes with this elegy for the way things used to be, viewed through the eyes of the disenfranchised.

Dance With Me – Orleans

Dance, like music, is universal and while the title of Orleans’ “Dance with Me” may seem simple, it does get straight to the point. It was the group’s first Top 40 single, peaking at #6 on the Billboard Hot 100, and was on their third studio album Let There be Music. Written by the then husband-and-wife team of John and Johanna Hall, the 1975 release has a catchy melody and romantic lyrics that are sure to make you sway to the music.

What’s Next – Latasha Alcindor

Latasha Alcindor has a lot to say, and there’s so much style in the way she says it.

“What’s next” is an amazing sonic journey from her past and background as a black girl from the hood, to the future she is creating, the tomorrow she wants to see…
