This week it’s my absolute pleasure to feature my dear friend Öona Dahl on the Music To Go Underground playlist. Öona and I met back in San Francisco in 2012 a long over due meeting since we lived three times in the same states and knew all the same people. A chance meeting on Facebook of all places would bring us to meet in person for the very first time. Instantly becoming very close friends we would throw an afterhours event together in San Francisco called Biosophe (Biosophy) meaning wisdom of life. Having a common interest in the esoteric and the occult was the catalyst that would push me into the direction of my record label Occultists.
In 2013 she would introduce me to a very talented vocalist and producer from Montreal named Dugong. At the time she had gotten me obsessed with Grimes and I was really digging this ethereal singing and electronic music combo. One day she wrote me check out this artist and I instantly fell in love with her music. So much so that I was determined to make Dugong the first artist on the Occultists label.
After talking with Dugong for a while we would eventually decide to do the first release on the label with her ‘Dead Man Rising’ EP. Öona herself also created two remixes for the track “What May Come” from the release. One is a 10 min dance floor masterpiece that you can find below as the first track in this playlist and she also created a beautiful ritual ambient remix.
Not only did Öona inspire me to move forward with the visions in my head but she is also an amazing DJ and producer. She has always chased her dreams and she made it happen because she chased it with such passion and conviction that the universe had no choice but to make it happen.
Now she has released her first full-length album titled ‘Holograma’ that features nine cuts that take you through many different moods of her world, from straight dance floor rituals to more moody and ambient pieces she shows her range and diversity as an artist. I’ve chosen the more danceable “Veil Enchantress” to be featured on the playlist this week. Turn it up and be taken to Öona Dahl’s magical world of infinite possibilities.

About the Curator - Matt Pentycofe
Musically inclined at a young age, Matthew would play many instruments and perform in musical theatre until he became a teenager. It was during these years that he discovered techno music from attending his first rave parties. These fated events would start a chain reaction love affair that has continued now for 18 years.
Finding an immediate passion as a DJ his musical persona James Demon was born. While navigating through the house and techno scene worldwide he would eventually relocate to Berlin and launch his record label Occultists. The record label features mystical electronic music with an esoteric and occult flair.
