Danny Gordon

Danny's love affair with music started around the time he could walk. He spent countless hours in front of the record player going through his parents collection and experimented with playing violin, piano, and guitar before finding his voice on the bass in his teens. Danny began playing in local bands in Los Angeles while studying music, eventually landing at Berklee College of Music in 1998. Following his graduation in 2001 Danny returned home and continued his career as a recording and touring bassist, most notably working with former STP singer Scott Weiland. Danny continues to stay active in the local scene and is a devoted father teaching his children about the music he loves.

Cougars, Not Kittens-Whores

5 October 2020

This week’s track “Cougars, Not Kittens” is a brutal riff laden jaunt full of everything that makes this band a new favorite of mine. There’s no fat or superfluous wanking, just straight forward killer hard as fuck rock.

Maria También- Khruangbin

29 September 2020

“Maria También” is super funky and a great showcase of their soulful mix of Asian inspired funk, surf, and soundtrack-esque textures.

Hand Of Doom – Black Sabbath

22 September 2020

It’s nearly impossible to pick one song from this record, they all kill. Hand of Doom is not one of the “hits” but always stuck out for me and is a favorite of mine.

Saturnine & Iron Jaw- All Them Witches

15 September 2020

It opens with soundscapes and atmosphere before kicking into a massive stoner rock gallop at 2:30 and doesn’t look back. There is nothing about this song I don’t love and it’s been on heavy rotation all week.

Firecracker- Yellow Magic Orchestra

8 September 2020

This week’s track is “Firecracker” the second song off their debut record from 1978. It’s a funky combination of disco esque pop with a big dose of traditional Asian themes and melodies. It’s a quirky, weird, and super fun song that always makes me smile and remember why I love music.

Unfuck The World- Prophets Of Rage

1 September 2020

The title of this week’s track says it all. There is a lot going on in the world and it’s hard to not get angry, it’s also a great time to support each other and make some intense but needed changes.

Mess – Killradio

25 August 2020

Hard hitting, thoughtful, and catchy song about the state of the planet- If you haven’t heard these guys, you’re missing out, and this is a great place to start!

Do The Right Thing – Kung Fu

17 August 2020

For this week’s selection I’m going back to some funky roots. Kung Fu is a funk band full of incredible musicians who mix old school funk with jazz and heavy rock on occasion…

The Morning After – Faith No More

11 August 2020

Faith No More was the band that cemented a lifelong love, eh maybe obsession, with music…

The Most Dangerous Animal Is Me – Scissorfight

4 August 2020

In the early 2000s a close friend turned me on to the band Scissorfight. I instantly was hooked by their combination of low tuned stoner groove metal with a twist of New Hampshire country attitude and tongue in cheek sense of humor…

Back In The Village – Iron Maiden

28 July 2020

I’ve been remiss to not have an Iron Maiden tune on this list yet. One of my all time favorite bands, Maiden cranked out five of the best metal (and any genre really) albums ever between 1980-84 and changed the face of music…

The Less I Know The Better – Tame Impala

21 July 2020

If Shuggie Otis and John Lennon had a baby it would be Tame Impala. Master minded by songwriter producer Kevin Parker his project combines the things I love most about these influential artists…
