Esinti – Gevende

Gevende is a band formed in the Eskişehir region of Turkey by a bunch of university students. From their early years as a band, their unique sound brought a new breath to the music scene of Turkey. Their genre is not crystal clear but “folk rock” and “psychedelic folk” can be used to describe them.

This track is awesome because it talks about the oppressive Turkish government in a very cryptic way. It criticizes the leaders and the government in general. Also the song’s name is “Nargile (hookah)” which suggests that the artist stayed loyal to her Eastern origin while experimenting with it.
