Future just released a new EP called Save Me last week. It is crazy how he satisfies me every time he brings something out. I'm not going to lie, this is the best thing I have seen for a long time. Have you ever felt like like you long for a sound you haven't even heard. Save Me hits me so differently. It is extremely sad and beautiful. As soon as I heard the whole album, I wanted to write about it for pages. However, it is not a project that you can easily write about. You should hear it drunk, you should hear it high, you should hear it sober. As I mentioned, it hits differently; but it also hits differently every single time you hear it. The intro song XanaX Damage gives us a pretty clear overall impression about the sound and the story of the rest.

How am I explain this to my children?

I need to find the words without soundin' foolish

Caught in temporary illusions, yeah

Treat me like property, but you pursuin'

FXXXXY, the engineer of the song, explains these lines:

“He’s actually saying ‘Caught in temporary illusions’ That cough was actually a real cough. He was smoking while recording and singing. I told him to keep it. It’s beautiful. It’s pain. It’s honesty. Let it be natural. And he trusted me and kept it.”

Indeed, it is beautiful. I enjoy doing this job so much when I find out this kind of meaningful details. I love everything which belongs to the backstage. Classics are made up of moments like this. By the way FXXXXY is also the executive producer of Save Me. I like his way of creating. He makes Lo-Fi beats with unique bassline; he is producing loud tracks without making any noise.

Future offers an emotional performance by showing a less-known fragile side of himself, made emerge by hate, internal struggles, break-ups and the fear of being misunderstood, because of the contrast between his artistic side, who usually seems to live a surreal life of luxury and partying, and his true persona, who actually is way deeper. Isn't it always like that? Bulletproof people who actually internally bend on their knees for the things that are bigger than them like their feelings. We do not like to show but we also do want to be seen both physically and mentally. I think we all had considered that emergency call but we never asked for help. We all felt that shame and pride at the same time at some point of our lives. We were too proud, too proud to love, too proud to give way too much. When I listened to Love Thy Enemies for the first time, it was the middle of the night. I was a little bit drunk in my hotel room in Orlando. Suddenly I got lost. Suddenly I felt way too deeper. Suddenly, I started to feel. I felt like my sensation was numbed before and my mouth was muted. I started to raise my voice like I'm waking up in the middle of the night trying to handle the sleep paralysis. Love Thy Enemies is about being lost and possessed. A revelation that tells you to stop spoiling yourself unconsciously. It is just another attempt of trying to find answers to the questions we cannot even ask loud. Our desire to flash our inner self just to show how much we got damaged.  Lately, I have realized the fact that the bond with our enemies might be so much more special and strong than the bond we have with our beloved ones. That’s the real struggle. That’s why I love this track so much.

Lyrics:

[Intro]

Love my enemies, love my enemies, oh, oh

Makin' love to the enemy, makin’ love to the enemy, oh, oh, oh

 [Refrain]

Roses, roses I sent, they forever died, oh

Chosen, frozen, livin' in paradise, woah

[Verse]

I've been possessed, they wanna take my soul

Save my flesh, I’m in need of your love

Tracin' back to orbit is where we met, met

You wasn't considerate to how I was feelin', yeah

How am I explain this to my children?

I need to find the words without soundin' foolish

Caught in temporary illusions, yeah

Treat me like property, but you pursuin'

I need angels, I need angels, yeah

I need answers, who I can't trust?

Fighting through breakups, revelation

Complicated obligations

 [Refrain]

Roses, roses I sent, they forever died, oh

Chosen, frozen, livin' in paradise, woah

[Outro]

Love thy enemy

Walk through the valley of the shadow of death, oh, oh
