Music is so special to me. There was a time around my college years when almost everything I did was accompanied by music, I had these little speakers and played everything loud enough to make people around me change their mood for a few moments. I loved to musicalize moments and feel like the vibe changed according to the music I played, I also liked to find the perfect music to express what I felt at the moment, it was one of the ways I connected non verbally with the people around me, some people felt the same way I did and what I played allowed them to really connect to it and express it, for a moment.
This song came to my life at that time of my life, I remember when I first heard it and found myself incredibly captivated by its sound and also excited to play it at lunch the next day, I also showed it to people on headphones hoping they felt the same way I did, they rarely did.
I specially loved the middle part of the song when the song gets calmer and some chords introduce a new melody, the one where James Mercer sings “Running in circles, a mouse on the table…” I closed my eyes and felt immediately uplifted, it was like my body weighted less and my soul just took over. I felt, if there was a heaven, it would feel like that.
Those were one of the best times of my life, I really enjoyed being on campus and listening to music, sitting on the grass and looking at the sky for a few hours, playing and playing different music on my speakers, I felt a special peace, also a special excitement, a different kind of feeling I don’t remember having again, my campus doesn't exist anymore but I keep it in my heart and remember it fondly.
I hope you can get close to the feeling I get from this song, it can make your night a special one.
