It's not easy to explain the deep connection I have with Interpol's music, it's something so intimate, so personal, something difficult to describe.
This music has been one of my closest companions for more than a decade, it has been on so many beautiful and terrible days, it has been the main protagonist of the best concert I've been to, it has joined my tears and my smiles, my thoughts and my silence, my days and my nights.
I love every song from every album I've listened to, there are only two bands with which I've experienced this strange event.
Even songs like this one, that is very little known or played by them, I've had very personal experiences with some of these songs, many of my favorites are not the ones you can expect to hear live, this one is a great example of that.
It has a desperate sense of nostalgia that relates so much with my soul, a constant reminder of something that is long gone, something that makes you feel so strange in the present, like you don't know if you belong in the now, I have this kind of sensations every now and then, it's like reliving the past so vividly you just don't know where you are exactly.
I've tried to explore my memory in that sense, to feel the energy and all the feelings around a past situation so much that it feels almost like time travelling, I've tried to experience it strongly and then tried to go back as strongly to the present, sometimes I feel there's a clue to existence in learning to perceive those kinds of things and not getting lost in the way, I always remember something I read once about how being a yogi was defined by being able to pass through every possible dimesion of experience without losing conscience of the self, call me crazy but I think these songs, that have so many memories, emotions and energy attached to them can become like portals to other moments in time, don't know if that makes sense, when I think of time not being linear it seems more logical.
These reflections get a bit complex sometimes, for now let's just enjoy the sublime music this text was inspired from.
