Life Is Good. An incredible album by one of Hip-Hop’s greatest acts ever. It’s his most introspective and love inducing project to date. The album is equally renowned for its soulful production and incredible lyricism.
It’s unlike Nas’ traditional style. It’s not characterized by his grimy New York inspired sonic direction. Instead, it’s based on a beautiful guitar riff accompanied by steady drum percussion, an ex hilarity saxophone melody and the occasional background vocals. Produced by Salaam Remi (who introduced Nas to Amy while also frequently producing for both individually), he finds a sound that’s perfectly suited for both artists. The harmonies are breathtaking and create the perfect foundation for Nas and Amy Winehouse to let their sorrows flow. Amy’s soulful textures alongside her jazz-inspired melodies are alluring. Nas goes onto rhyme intricately about love and soulmates. Their content is incredible and easily adaptive to life. Their chemistry is remarkable.
It’s a vivid collaboration between two elite musicians and their names live up to expectations created hypothetically. This is what’s meant by putting the Soul into Hip-Hop.

About The Curator - Dithekgo Mogadime
A Hip-Hop purist at heart. Currently pursuing a law degree. I love anything related to music (specifically – R&B, jazz & hip-hop), sports (specifically – football, rugby, basketball & golf) and fashion.
I find most enjoyment in laying back, listening to music and interacting with my friends. If not socializing, I’m bound to be shouting at my TV – trying to tell Eden Hazard to shoot as he flicks the ball unnecessary. Sometimes I spend hours glued at my screen, watching Netflix in bed.
I’m a kind, cool and collected persona. I tend to live life without limits, finding enjoyment in every action and keep smiling through it all. I would sacrifice anything to keep my loved ones happy. I’m supportive and I’m happiest when everybody around me is smiling and shinning.
