Sebastian Carandang is the Asian American artist known as Yeek. With less than $1000 in his bank account he packed his car and set out from Florida to Los Angeles with dreams of becoming a musician. Now on his second EP Sebastian he’s found his rhythm. Mixing electronic, hip hop and indie music in refreshing way.
Alone is a brief summary of how a twenty-something year old deals with love, heartbreak, depression or just finding their self in general. With drugs and alcohol. We live in a generation where everything is easily accessible. As self destructive as it may be it’s how most of us cope. I can relate to wanting to mask my feelings with drugs and alcohol so this song is comforting to me. I know I’m not alone in this behavior. And isn’t that the point of making music? To put in words what others can’t and show that we all share the same experiences, to connect with each other through music? I think Yeek is doing a pretty good job if you ask me.
